FK Weightlifting

FK.WL logo

FK.UK and the British Weightlifting Association (BWLA) have collaborated to create the first ever ‘virtual’ BWLA club, FK Weightlifting (FK.WL). This allows us to offer BWLA membership to the whole of the functional fitness community rather than just those people who train at an affiliated club location.

Membership

FK.UK is pleased to be able to offer a two tier membership system to join the BWLA affiliate club FK.WL.

Tier 1 – Key members

For just £15 per annum members can join BWLA through FK.WL as a Key member. A Key member will receive the following benefits:

  • £5 million public liability insurance. This will not only insure yourself but also anyone you are coaching, providing you are doing so free-of-charge. Any paying clients will require separate liability insurance.
  • Entry to the BWLA Lift of the Quarter scheme and placing on the official national standings tables both as an individual and as part of FK.WL.
  • Access to members-only FK.WL merchandise.
  • Access to members-only prices on high quality, BWLA approved weightlifting equipment.

Tier 2 – Full members

Full members of FK.WL will be full members of BWLA, allowing them to compete in BWLA sanctioned weightlifting competitions and be listed in the official national rankings for a cost of just £25 per annum.  This is less than the cost of a membership directly through BWLA. Of course, full members also receive all the Key member benefits as well.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I join FK.WL?
If you are interested in any area of olympic weightlifting or all round lifting as part of your functional training, then the advantages of joining are plentiful. The £5 million public liability insurance alone is worth far more than the cost of entry, particularly for those that are just starting to train others. You will also be ranked nationally and eligible to participate in BWLA sanctioned events, allowing you to gauge the results of your training. You will also be eligible for member discounts on high quality training equipment and member exclusive FK.WL merchandise.

Should I join as a Key member or as a Full member?
That depends on your goals for the year. If you are planning on entering BWLA sanctioned competitions then you will need to be a full member; if you are not planning on competing and are simply interested in being part of a growing movement, and taking advantage of the generous benefits, then a Key membership is right for you. Click here to join.

If I join as a Key member, can I upgrade my membership to Full at any time?
This is possible, but it will cost you a total of £27 (£15 Key membership plus £12 upgrade). The extra cost is to cover administration and BWLA fees. After a year, you can upgrade your membership from Key to Full at time of renewal without incurring the extra administration fee.

How do I join?
Simply enter your details in this form and send us the cost of your chosen membership package via Paypal or credit card. FK.WL will process your application with BWLA and inform you when all is confirmed.

What is the BWLA Lift of the Quarter?
The Lift of the Quarter Competition is an all round lifting contest run by BWLA featuring The Odd Lifts. Each quarter a different lift is featured and members can enter their lift totals and be ranked against national participants. At the end of the year a final standings table is released, ranking both individuals and clubs. Several FK.UK members entered in 2009 have ranked highly in the standings and had a lot of fun in the process!
