Wanted to give you guys a heads-up about a course that BWLA are running:

Weightlifting for Sport Instructor Award - Part I

It's the first in a two part course - each is independent and each gains a BWLA diploma.

Each course involve a written and practical exam and continuous evaluation.

The courses are being held in in Twickenham this time, and each is £250

Here is a few words from Lyndon Johns, who is running it:

Hello each,
At last we have been able to sort out a venue for our next Olympic lifting course - having held two at Lilleshall we now move south!
If you wish to attend this course please complete the attached application form and return it to me with the course fee as soon as you can.
At the moment we are having to restrict the number on the course to 15. So the first 15 forms returned with the course fee will be accepted.
Further details will be sent upon receipt of the completed form.
Regards,
Lyndon

There is apparently actually a 'waiting list' of 80-90 folk for this!
But its first come, first served ;) ... places are limited so be quick!

See below for attached application form.

Nice one.

did this course in Lilleshall. Not sure each part gets it's own diploma though. We were tolkd we had to pass both parts to receive the diploma. Quite a good course and a steal at £250

I've sent off my application form. I've been waiting for something like this to turn up. Thought the Crossfit NI course was a bit steep and this is UK recognised so overall more universal and better bet.

I'm on it. Should be a good experience and is REPS recognised. Just waiting on Lyndon to send out the course materials so i can start brushing up.

As a bonus, it's only 5 minutes from my Gran's house so I can play the dutiful grand-son and go visit after class; BAWLA diploma and family brownie points - can't go wrong. :D

spoke with lyndon last week and he said that each part doesn't carry it's own diploma. You need to do both parts to get the qualification. Did he come back to you Chet?

Edit - I passed :D

Fantastic Andy , well done mate
You are a MAN... take that Zone diet and throw it back at Sears and tell him "f*** you, I'm eating food without counting it". Embrace the 200+ pound range, bro, hug it...

Wicked! Nice one bud :D

Hmm!

Naw, not from that time I asked him last week. Needed to get in touch with him about a couple of other things today anyway so asked him again to confirm once and for all as a couple of folk have asked.

Just realised that I did not include the dates on the actual post itself - just on the application form.

To clarify, Part I is on the 17th/18th January.

Nice work both of you. Going to have to make sure I brush up on the physiology and biomechanics parts before the course so I keep up the 100% pass rate from FK.UK

From Lyndon, to clarify:

"There should only be one certificate (diploma) for the course but what we do is issue a certificate for each part but we state that on the certificate.

The full certificate has the full title of 'Weightlifting Instructor for Sport' on it."

Cool, I haven't had chance to read the booklet (just got in from work) but I spoke to Lyndon and he said that we'd be going through the booklets so it wasn't such a problem. It'd be good to catch up and chat about stuff. See you tomorrow dude.
