.... have to say I agree totally with Tyneside. Stan's are the bench mark when it comes to KB's.....

.....our boxers like to drop ours onto stone floors. Now the dragondoor and the Eleiko ones have chipped (slightly), but the ones from stan are like new even after all these years. We had two newitts ones and the handle on one of them got completely broke off so any money spent on them was wasted IMO. ....

....

Firstly welcome to the forum

Secondly - Stans are the best, agree with you there.

Thirdly - if your guys are dropping kettlebells onto a stone floor...no wonder they are breaking and they probably shouldnt do it. That way they wont break.

Fourthly - eh....havent got a fourthly.......Welcome again
You are a MAN... take that Zone diet and throw it back at Sears and tell him "f*** you, I'm eating food without counting it". Embrace the 200+ pound range, bro, hug it...

Has anyone got any experience with the Wu-Ming Kettlebells? they look similar to the London Kettlebell ones on the site.

Unfortunately they are not importing to my knowledge and are thinking of wrapping up the business due to the proprieter relocating due to work. However it is a while since I corresponded with him and things may have changed. Best to contact him direct on this one.

I bought a 1 POOD from Argos when i was back in UK some 6 months ago. It was crap. The handle did not have a smooth finish and was not wide enough for both hands to do a swing. it cost me 40 quid. I borrrowed my mates homemade one and it was perfect.

I am now thinkingof buying a 2 pood one, but form where i dont know. Not paying a fortune on P&P!!!!

Just to hit home about the clearance issue, here are a few pics of my 12 and 16kg bells (York and Newitts). I also have a 20kg newitts bell but its got practically the same level of clearance as the 16.

Side by Side comparison of each bell

As you can see, although I can maintain a straight wrist both bells (same with the 20kg bell) sit very high on the forearm causing discomfort once fatigue starts setting in. So im seriously considering new bells. Another issue I have with the Newitts bells are the thin handles and the width of the handles are a pain in the arse as they start sliding from side to side when my hand starts to sweat!

Ask for Jason and mention Ben from CF Tyneside put you on to him. I'm sure he'll sort you out. Excellent bells at very competitive prices

I had alot of time on my hands yesterday, so went to the tedious task of making up a chart of all the kettlebells brands reviewed by Ben and the price lists for each company too. Can you guys tell me how to upload a file on here if it is possible so that I can make it available to you?

Thought I might add a couple of comments, I have a cast 16kg bell that I got from a Powerhouse Gym Shop. It has served me well, good clearance etc. The only issue I had was the flat sides causing bruising. I sorted that by adding a blob of bue-tac and creating a "round". Good value, good for beginners but I wouldn't drop it 6" never mind 3ft.

I wanted to get a 24 last summer but caved at the prices and thought I'd try the Kettlestack as it was better value. This is a good bit of kit (mine is the newer one with larger handle) but I think the weights we get in the UK are not really suitable - I've yet to see any disks like those on the Kettlestack site for sale in the UK (slim ones) except on premade DBs and Barbells in commersial gyms. The stack is ideal for heavy swings and can be used for snatches (bluetac again ;) ) but the problem I have is with slow moves , it's impossible to get a good comfy rack position and I've gave myself a couple of cracking forearm bruises as the stack has moved slightly on the arm and caused a pressure "nip". The fact that the handle is weighless means the heavier you go , the more your shoulder stabilisers and grip are stressed. Again, good value, versatile but of late I've loaded it up with 12kg of rubber plates (from Tesco) and use it for warm ups only.

Wolversons.... my training led me to talking my brother into getting his own and he finally went with the Wolverson Comp's. I really like these - brilliant for snatching and grinds - not so for 2 handed swings as the grip is quite narrow - but the advantage there is that when you'r edoing a Time / Max rep set and you start getting sloppy, the narrow grip helps prevent disasters. So I asked my better half for some new bells for my 40th. I was going to just get the 20 and 24, but it actually worked out nearly as cheap to get the 16,20,24 set. £120 delivered :) These are coloured and slightly different to my bro's Comp. They do appear slightly less well finished and as a set are not totally uniform in grip thickness/smoothness etc. Still great value though and if anything the "clearance is a little more than with the black comp models.

I'd love to be able to afford some London KBs or Stan', beauties, (and will no doubt advance later) but I can heartily recommend Wolverson's - great kit, great price and great service - they actually phoned my wife back, minimising any phone cost to us :)

All the best
mj

I'll chuck in a recommendation for Wolverson too. Bought a bell from them through Ebay but when it was delivered it had clearly been handled badly in transit with a large chunk of the coating knocked off , although purely cosmetic i flagged it up with Wolverson who sent out a new bell to me.

I'll never judge a company who sent a bad/broken/incorrect product until they have had a chance to correct it.

Great set of reviews - wish I had found it before getting a 24 from Jordans. Expensive mistake...
Absolutely right - handle too short. Alright for swings, but snatches (the few I can manage...) and C & Ps, no good.

Looking at the other comments, just ordered a Wolverson. Now I'll have no excuse for poor performance.

gotta say wolversons are great. I had/have a bunch of newitts ones which were the first ones i got for my affiliate. were cheap at the time and did a job. As we have progressed and the guys are cleaning and snatch etc they became a bit of a liability. The wolverson bells sit nice and yes there is a slight difference in some of the bells but very minimal. Unfortunately the 8s are still a bit to small for ideal wrist positioning but hey they are prob better than newitts.

Have used london kettlebells a bit, not much and yes the finish is nice but the cost is just too much as with Stans. For what we do Wolversons are fine. They have kept the price reasonable, the bells and up there with the best and I have met with Jason and he is a good guy.

Cheers for the comparison as well buddy -should have said that first

I know it's technically not in the right section but how about a few kettlebell routines thrown in to the discussion?
