My girlfriend started cycling on the roads about 3 months ago in the build-up to an ultra event next summer (London to Paris in about 4 days). Just hoping to garner some tips and advice from you fit folk!

Any experienced road cyclists out there?

Have done a bit and starting to do more but on my mountain bike until I manage to snaffle a cheap 2nd hand road/tri bike.

Lon-Par is pretty straight forward I believe. Few guys at work have done it and none of them are very fit. You do need to do the training though as it is a fair old time in the saddle.

Anything in particular you were looking for.
"Pain is weakness leaving the body"
"If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready"
"The mind always gives out before the body. You’ll pass out before you die."
"We'll be as we are when all the fools around us fade away"
"Successful men and women are very careful in reaching decisions and very persistent and determined in action thereafter."

Not a very helpful lot are we! I haven't got anything to add really, apart from to say that a comfy saddle and padded shorts are a must! I've never done cycling over about 10 miles - that's far enough, thanks!
