I dont know if any of you have seen or heard of the PainStorm workouts that are posted on the CrossFit affiliate page. This is a big workout that is posted once a month and is usually a bit of a toughy.

It started a couple of years ago when I would travel don to London once a month to train with Karl, who is now owner of CrossFit Manchester. I would get the bus down on the Saturday, train all day Sunday, then get the bus home Sunday night. Now, if Im travelling all that way there is no way I was just going to do a normal workout - this is where PainStorm came from!

This month it is my turn to devise the workout so here it is -

PAINSTORM XXXII

"Griptastic"

500m Row

50 KB Swing Right Hand
50 KB Swing Left Hand

500m row

50 KB Snatch Right Hand
50 KB Snatch Left Hand

500m row

50 KB Clean and Press Right Hand
50 KB Clean and Press Left Hand

500m row

50 KB Swing Both Hands
50 Turkish Get Up

500m Row

Pick a weight and get to it!

We usually do this on the first Saturday of the Month but because I was at a KB workshop we will be doing it next Saturday...anyone else up for it?
You are a MAN... take that Zone diet and throw it back at Sears and tell him "f*** you, I'm eating food without counting it". Embrace the 200+ pound range, bro, hug it...

So you guys invented PainStorms?!

I never knew that!

B) B) B) B)

Just checked out the affiliates pages, and been looking through a load of the old PainStorms. True enough, they're all done by you lot, hehe.

Some NICE workouts :D

I'm up for doing them in general each month, yeah :D

This was posted on the affiliate page the first time they posted a Painstorm. Of course I do realise that some of these workouts are not "CrossFit" and some times can have absolutely no benefit to your fitness but we do them to prove how much we CAN do

The History:
The first Painstorm was a gathering of some of the UK Crossfitters. Given that some of them traveled up 6 hours (by bus) for the meeting, no one felt like doing Fran and calling it a day. So the first Painstorm was something like warm up one round of Helen, followed by a typical CF WOD, followed by the Secret Service Snatch test, and of course partying afterwards.

The Painstorm soon evolved into a monthly competition between CrossFit London (represented by Kempie and Karl Steadman), CrossFit Central Scotland (represented by Davie and his crew) some displaced US military (Gordon Limb and some marine flyers in London, Brian White and his group called team Fallujah) and the group from Brand X. Dan Colson from CrossFit Rockford has "happily" joined in for the last three or four.

Karl, Davie and Jeff take turns creating the Painstorms. They tend to be long efforts, in keeping with the original tradition. Weights and reps are scaled of course, so everyone can join in.

The Future:
Each month we will post the Painstorm workout so other affiliates can compete and post times...though the veterans doubt you even have the guts to try it, let alone compete with them.
