Hi everyone, just found the site (from a link sent by Miles Key down at CFWS). Really excited to see a UK resource for functional training.

Let's see, intros:
Name: Stephen Hollingdale
Age: 35
Height: 5'10
Weight: 78Kg/171/12St 3lb

Been Crossfitting for a few months now, before that I was doing other general fitness (some BB weights, pull-ups, dips etc) plus sports specifics and martial arts (Krav Maga and US Kickboxing). Really enjoying the crossfit style, brings me back to the old military style PT I used to do.

Anyway, thought I would stick my head in and say hi. looking forward to reading through the posts and (hopefully) contributing in a meaningful (or not so meaningful ;) ) way.

Welcome mate
You are a MAN... take that Zone diet and throw it back at Sears and tell him "f*** you, I'm eating food without counting it". Embrace the 200+ pound range, bro, hug it...

Guildford. Not far at all, and always looking for opportunities to train with like-minded people.

I currently train at the University of Surrey gym. The free weight equipment is old but works and is empty at 7 am when I get in there (opening time or I would be there earlier). They have no bumpers, but you get booted if you drop weights anyway :( Such is the sad state of weight lifting in the UK! Looking at maybe training with a guy called Brian Hamill in Woking once or twice a week; he is the BAWLA approved coach for the South of England so I should get some good coaching on my lifts.

Indeed mate, would def be up for hooking up to train at some point soon.

Funny you should mention Brian...I went on an Oly lifing seminar organised by Mark of CrossFit Derby, and coached by Brian - brilliant coach.

There's a thread here about it - a number of other folk from this forum went on it too.

I spoke to him about training with him in Woking at the seminar, am also looking down there on a semi-regular basis :D

We should talk... ;)
