ok so one or two of you may recall me mentioning I was having a few problems with toothache, jawache and headaches.
Well I'd been to the dentist (2 1/2 weeks ago now) who'd immediately recognised the symptoms as classic tooth grinding. The pain was localised to my right hand side, and around two teeth, so he did some occlusion (the "fit" your teeth achieve when together) testing and ground them down a little to reduce any pressure that one tooth was putting on the other.
The dentist said to give it a week to calm down, and see if that solved the problems. Slowly, the symptoms started to subside. At the time I was taking painkillers (after seeing a doctor and being assured it was safe), mostly just before bed so that I wouldn't wake up in the middle of the night in pain (it was worse at night).
So it was slowly slowly improving (the only pain I was getting was mild tooth pain, the jaw ache and headaches had pretty much gone), then out of nowhere during a meeting on wednesday I get a splitting pain in the side of my head. It's worrying to note that this started pretty much straight after I had taken a painkiller, which also happened to be the first out of a new pack. Taking another had no effect (they had always worked up till now), and for about half an hour it got worse and worse, up until the point where my colleagues were pretty worried about me (I was quite obviously in a lot of pain, and had gone quite pale), so I was sent out to call the dentist (we have one on-site) to get an emergency appointment.
This time around he did a few more tests and found out that one of the teeth that had caused the original problem was sensitive/painfull, as a filling hadn't set properly or something similar. So he removed the filling, and put in a temporary one. The idea being that that was the local cause, and with that resolved, the knock on effects (jaw and head pain) would subside.
Things are very slowly improving since then, but at the moment, I'm having frequent intense bursts of pain, which I can get rid of by doing deep breathing and relaxtion techniques for 5-10 mins. This seems to be caused by a number of things, notably loud noise (the radio!), tv, computer screens (I started writing this about 9 hours ago) and so on.
The worse thing though, is that as soon as I fall asleep, I wake up again in agony. I can only assume that I must start grinding my teeth when I fall asleep - either way, I've had no sleep for 3 nights now and I seem to be in a lot of pain, a lot of the time.

CFWU x 3, subbing jumping pullups for normal ones
then a CF WOD - Complete as many rounds in twenty minutes as you can of:
65 Pound Thruster, 10 reps
10 Pull-ups
7 rounds.
well, f*** me. That was insane. I'm disappointed with my performance, but bugger me if I didn't try bloody hard. First time in a while I've felt like throwing up during a workout.
I was hoping for 10 rounds, so went in optimistically with a 2min round timer. Halfway through round two it became clear this wasn't going to be at all possible. I was f***ed! From then on it was sets of 4 and 3, with the occasional 6 or 7 pullups.
I'd like to think it has something to do with my time off/being sick, but I know it's probably just a lack of conditioning. Those thrusters absolutely killed me.
I'm sat here with sweat running down pretty much every part of me, wondering what to do next. I might do some kicks, then collapse.

CFWU x3
Then CF WOD - Shoulder Killer
Shoulder press 1-1-1-1-1
Push press 3-3-3-3-3
Push jerk 5-5-5-5-5
all weights in KG
SP - 40, 42.5, 45, 47.5(pb), 48.5 (fail)
PP - 42.5, 47.5, 50, 52.5, 55(pb)
PJ - 47.5, 47.5, 50, 52.5(only got 4 reps), 52.5(only 4 again)
My shoulders are tired.....
Last time I did that workout I did it wrong, doing sets of 1, 2 and 3, not 1,3 and 5. Hence the pbs stopped when the reps got "too high". Gaduush

Aikido, then Football. Relatively easy Aikido session, but a bloody hot and intense game of footy. Then home for:
2x CFWU, with ring body rows and normal PU subbed in for pullups and dips
Crossfit WOD - Elizabeth ;
21-15-9 reps of
40kg clean
Ring dips
6:50 - PB - 2:16 faster than last time!!
Broke it down as follows;
Cleans - 10, 7, 4
Dips - 21
Cleans - 8,7
Dips - 8,7
Cleans - 5,4
Dips - 6,3
I should probably increase the weight on the cleans next time, but I wanted to do it like-for-like with last time to get an idea of progress. My forearms are pumped to fook
- good old cleans!

CFWUx2 then:
CF WOD - Diane -21-15-9 reps of 60kg deadlift, HSPU
7:55
Broken down as follows;
Deadlift - 15, 6
HSPU - 10, 6, 5
Deadlift - 8, 7
HSPU - 8,7
Deadlift - 9
HSPU - 7,2
HSPUs were bloody hard despite only being partial reps, and the deadlifts were too easy at 60kg. Nevermind eh!
Now I'm off to Dublin for 4 days of Guinness! Cya when I get back!

Aikido - conditioning at the start, worked up a nice sweat
then
CF WOD - Overhead Squats 3-3-3-3-3-3-3
Now, unfortunately, I still lack both the shoulder and hip flexibility to do OHS, so I was just working the move with a very light (15kg) barbell, in a vague effort to stretch out the required muscles.
It's on my list of things to do.....
