Concept two... other rowers are available? ...are they not? Does it HAVE to be a C2 or are others up to the job?

Hi all,

Getting close to opening up my own 'ickle place here in Somerset and I am in the process of sourcing and costing kit... (anyone getting rid of owt let me know!"

I want a couple of rowers for obvious reasons, but the C2's are so expensive and being a Yorkshire man I naturally want a lot for as little money as I can. (Insert pic of ducks backside here). I know you get what you pay for, I also understand the PM timers are da'best, but surely there are are other rowers out there that are up to the job?

It's like cars... Skodas used to be w8/k, but then VW got hold of them and now they are great...

Please share your thoughts guys... or maybe I just bite the bullet and get the C2's?

i have yet to find a rower of similar quality that lasts as long, can be calibrated and is as ubiquitous.

Have you looked at the used market? Got my C2 Mod C for 220 notes (without pm) about 2.5 years ago. shop around as there will some bargains - just don't buy one from a gym!

we have used C2 at gym, still going strong must be 20 years old

for crossfit C2 is probably best though i do like the feel of the water rowers
tears MAY get you sympathy, but guts WILL get you results

Generally the C-2 will be the ergo of choice for most rowing teams and clubs because the calibration and feedback are comparable cross machines (even between styles) and are close enough to actual water rowing that the cross training benefits are huge, whereas other brands don't seem to have the same consistency of action and jut "feel" wrong.

We have a Model-B in the gym which even still has the PM1 attached (I do have a PM4, just not got round to fitting it yet). The thing must be over 20 years old and has thousands of kilometers on it (it was owned by two different rowing clubs before I got it from an individual seller) but it still rows like a dream. I paid about 100 quid for it. The deals are there to be had, you just have to keep on looking.

Great advise guys... looks like the jury is out. It really has to be a C2.

Thanks for your help.
