Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone knows of any internships going as I am looking to get my foot in the door as a strength and conditioning coach and know you have to take a step back before you can take one forward sometimes.

Also I am going to be busy in October doing the UKSCA workshops (weightlifting, plyo & programme design) and wondered if people would want me to review these. I know there are a couple of people who might have already done this so don't want to cover old ground and make everyone nod off ;)

Constructive opinions always welcome mate!

Good luck with the quest for internships.

I'm also looking for internships, especially in the south London area.

I went to the UKSCA Strength + Conditioning level 1 certification in North London. I would love to see a review of the level 2 stuff. It'll be useful for would be S+C coaches to know just what they'll be getting themselves into.

Hey guys

I am just about to book a spot on the UKSCA level 1 workshop. Just wondered what kind of study materials would be recommended. I am reading Bompa's Periodization Training for Sports, Essentials of S&C, and Explosive Lifting for Sports.

I find it hard to grasp that you get certified as a level strength & conditioning coach after just a 2 day workshop. People who dont have a sports science related degree or a PT cert or even a background in fitness can do the 2 days andf then be level 1 S&C coac?. Or is the course really just a basic stepping stone to the other workshops?

Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I did this course a while back, don't be to put off by the 2 day certification:-) there are some stringent requirements for passing which I will list to ease your mind about idiots gaining the certificate.

#1. you must have no expierience in any type of conditioning.
#2. you must never have touched a Olympic bar or done any oly lifting or power lifts.
#3. during your self intro to fellow course members it is very important that you tell lies about your abilities and achievements.
#4. you must have no coaching ability or confidence in front of your peers.
#5. you will own a gym and have trained and coached multiple world champions, and when asked have no recall of their name.

On completion of the two days if you have zero knowledge or very little you will learn something. I have a vast amount of expertise and qualification and yes I did learn something, I stole a coaching tech that I liked and a qoute. Was it worth 250? No, but if you want to get involved in sport as a s&c coach then you really have no choice, as it is now becoming a prerequisite for most jobs.

Also you will not be able to call yourself an accredited s&c coach as that seminar is an intro not a pass or fail be very careful if you decide to call yourself a s&c coach using uksca as your qual !!!!!!
Are you oly lift / power lift / plyo / etc qualified?? If not be careful.

The level 1 cse has about as much use as the cf Certs. It is just an intro.
