Right, hopefully we’ve met our desired weight for the Strength & Power 2010 Meet. But what diet should we consider for the next 5 days leading up to the event? More carbs? More protein? Flax seed or cod liver oils? Red pills an obvious yes

Suggestions welcome,

Steve

I would certainly keep up good fat intake as excess carbs always get stored as fat if not used, where as healthy fats tend to be used by the body far easier. Last 2 days then increase carb intake as well as maintaining good oils too!

Being super hydrated will help and I normally look at 1 litre of water per 20-25kg of lean mass. Forget about pre energy drinks and boosters as this will just send you through the roof in a bad way! Let log clean and press do that for you :-)

On day of event then go for carbs as this will be your main fuel source for short duration activities.

Fat burners, who needs them?? My metabolism is raised just thinking about Saturday!!

@ Chet: Energy levels are reasonable, my body has finally adjusted to the new weight (dropped 12~13kg over four months) and appears quite happy now, good news is my strength doesn't appear to have taken a hit which was a previous concern. It'll be interesting to see what happens with regards to stamina on the day. Currently taking flax seed oils, spirulina and detox tea to remove any nasty's, lots of greens, fruit, some meat and most importantly the occasional beer the keep my chin up :)

@ Andy: Thanks for the detailed feedback. Carbs and fats on the menu Thursday and Friday it is then. What about protein? Completely with you on the fat intake - really seen the benefits of using necessary fats in a sensible manner in the lead up to this event.

Heard lots of chat about L-Gluatmine - anyone have say on this?

Thanks again,

Steve

Davie...your only going to bring all that back up!!

Wardy, I find you get quite a lot of 'good' protein from spirulina and often add rice and pea or hemp in my green drink for a bit of a boost! I would keep protein as normal and avoid heavy meat intake unless you chew thoroughly or it will be taking energy that you need for the day in digesting!!

What weight category are you going for?? If it's under 75 then stack up on s*** loads of meat..LOL

If you get Vitargo it's really easy to digest and quicker for body to use on the day!!

L Glutamine is normally in my Post Workout drink- pretty good at night time too as well as stomach problems (IBS etc).

Biggest thing is not to be too drastic with changes on the day; pre comp nerves will make your stomach feel upset, therefore make sure your drinks are palatable!

Sounds like your on a good track with greens, flax etc.

All the best for the day.

Look forward to meeting you and if we clash heads in comp all good :-)
