As soon as Andy McKenzie (of mckenziefit and Team Sub Armour) heard about the Strength and Power Meet, he knew he wanted to get involved. With a diverse background and history in terms of training, he was keen to get out there, and put himself through the paces in the Strength and Power Meet – the only competition of its kind in Britain.

He also thought the same about his sponsor, British baselayer specialist Sub Armour. He realised that it would be a good opportunity both to put the technical sportswear through the varied demands of the functional fitness athlete, and put the kit out there for the functional fitness community to see, so he let his sponsors know of the competition.

Sub Armour immediately embraced the opportunity and got behind the Meet, realising the value of the performance, endurance and recovery potential to competitors of a tough Meet such as this. Here are a few words from Steve at Sub Armour:

Sub Armour is a sports-mad British brand bringing you the best in baselayer compression technology. On hearing about FK.UK from one of the Sub Armour team Andy McKenzie, competitor of the CrossFit Reading Strength and Power Meet (in Association with FK.UK), we were right behind the competition. Our aim from the beginning was to get our gear out there into as many sports as possible and functional fitness is an ideal test and opportunity. Keep up the good work, from everyone at Sub Armour.”

Sub Armour are very kindly providing performance sportswear from their Dual range for the winners, in the sizes of their choice.

The Dual range is designed specifically to cope with the UK’s changeable climate and contrasting seasons. As Billy Connolly once said – “There is no such thing as bad weather – only the wrong clothes…”

Andy will of course be there in Sub Armour gear come rain or shine, putting himself to the test in the sub-75kg category (he hopes!)

Here’s also hoping for sunshine!
