I am having some trouble with my right knee. I hurt it doing some squats on Friday last week and it doesn't seem to have fixed itself yet.
I haven't had any knee pain before but my right knee did make a popping sound sometimes when doing high rep bodyweight squats. I think I hurt it because I forgot to push my knees out over my feet on the up part of the squat movement.
It isn't really a pain but it is making me walk a bit funny and I notice it if I have to walk up stairs (putting pressure on it causes it to hurt) and it just feels weaker than my other knee. Doing an air squat aggravates it as does having to sit with it bent at a right angle (like a bus seat would).
The pain seems to be above, below and behind my knee cap but this is dependent on how my leg is bent at the time, I have been icing different parts of my knee every day since (10 mins on 5 mins off) but after my knee does seem to be stiffer but I don't have any noticeable difference in pain.
I haven't been exercising since as I don't want to make it worse. Not sure if I want to see a doctor about it as it isn't a major pain but at the same time I am concerned it hasn't improved at all, has anyone experienced anything similar or have any advice on how I should treat it?

If in doubt, see a doctor about knees. So many things going on in there that they will probably have to refer you to a specialist but at least they should be able to sort you out.
You could try seeing a physio first to see what they think; I hurt my knee a while back but thought little of it, the pain wasn't too bad and subsided after a while. It wasn't until the knee started to lock in a bent position that I saw a physio who had the doctor refer me to a specialist and it turned out I had detached my ACL and ripped through my meniscus. If I'd seen them earlier the whole procedure would have been a lot smoother.
Yours sounds like it could be cartilage - the popping sound, weaker feeling and pain when bent for periods. Get it checked out and be sure.
