The BodyPower Expo 2010 has just issued a challenge to its visitors – “The 100 Rep Bodyweight challenge” in association with Rannoch Donald’s Simplestrength.com.

“The BodyPower Expo 100 rep challenge in association with SimpleStrength.com

Everyone should be able to perform basic simple bodyweight exercises. These are the foundation the let you move on to bigger and tougher challenges. It’s important to focus on moves that reflect the way your body moves. This year at BodyPower we are introducing the Simple Strength 100 Challenge. Based on Rannoch Donald’s original article Mandatory Muscle we are offering visitors the chance to show us what they’ve got!

This challenge combines fitness, strength, endurance and a little grit.

10 Dead hang, chin past bar, Pull Ups
30 Chest to floor, full extension push ups
60 ATG Full body Squats

Think it sounds easy…Try It!”

BodyPower Expo 2010 will be running this challenge throughout the weekend and is open to all visitors. They have laid down the challenge for people to complete the three exercises in under 2 minutes which is something ideally suited to the Functional Fitness Community and a chance for us to show people just how effective functional training is. FK.UK will be at the event and will have a go – will you?

To clarify the standards a bit (and to save you reading the whole article and comments over on simplestrength ;)), the squat is as low as possible with below parallel the minimum standard, so nothing most of us wouldn't normally do then.

what do you win?

a sub 90-100seconds doesn't seem that far off, squats would be the only thing I don't like :)

The satisfaction of completing the challenge I guess. No mention of prizes that I could see.

Had a crack at this tonight- 1m 39s. Couldn't get the squats done fast enough and found myself jumping in the air...lol

Today 1.32
"The idiots are self regarding consumer slaves oblivious to the paradox of their uniform individuality. They sculpt their hair to casual perfection, they wear their waistbands below their balls. They babble into hand-held twit machines about that cool e-mail of the woman being bummed by a wolf. Their cool friend made it. He's an idiot too. Welcome to the age of stupidity, hail the rise of the idiots!"

Charlie Brooker & Chris Morris.

"Don't get hung up on the stopwatch or times, or even weight lifted, think about technique, technique, technique and listening to your body. You will not perform better every session and that is set in stone. Test your self every month keep a written journal not just a forum, a place where you can keep personal notes that you can read to motivate yourself. Don't compare yourself to others when you are working out and likewise do not think that you are already fit as fcuk!!! As someone will always be in front and behind you, ultimate confidence in your abilities yes, but arrogance no, there is a fine line.
But most of all do the things you hate above the things you like or are good at, this will make you a better athlete. Save the things you like for recreational sessions. But ultimately enjoy it, even when you hate it! And finally remember the mind will always give in before the body!"

Here endeth the lesson.
