Hi guys - just wanted to introduce myself.

Brief training history :

I've been training on and off for about 20 years now. Firstly on a general bodybuilding type programme (isolation exercises, set/reps, exercise types etc)and then in a slightly more focused way to put on some size and strength for playing rugby. The emphasis was on squats and deadlifts though I was self taught and mu technique was ( and is ) rubbish.

When I stopped playing rugby I drifted into some random training in the gym with no real focus or goals.

Then I got into some casual climbing and then more seriously into sports mixed climbing where I found all my gym strength was useless and my size a hinderance.

Started some more specific training and came across sites like mountainathlete.com which opened my eyes to more general functional training.

About the same time I came across Kettlebells and really got into them. Soon began to notice my poor range of motion and flexibility compared to others I was training with. It was quite a revelation that I couldnt do certain exercises as my arms or hips wouldnt move in that way !

Fractured my arm last July and suffered a frozen shoulder ( adhesive capsulitits) as a result. Got through the pain stage now and am working to restore my range of motion.

On the postitive side I've learned the importance of joint mobility and have really began to appreciate the benefits of functional training.

The future ?

- Looking to fix my shoulder and get started on some more serious training.
- Find some others to train with
- Make a sandbag at the weekend !

So thats me and enthusiastic beginner in this field.

Cheers
