12:30pm to 3:30 pm
Crossfit London mini POSE technique masterclass with Lee Saxby (POSE Coach level 4)
Location: Crossfit London, Blackboard Gym, London E2
Cost: £35
Get to grips with the basics of the POSE running method. In 3 hours Lee Saxby (POSE Level 4 coach), from Zoo Human will take you through the basic drills you need to begin to practise the POSE method.
At the moment, accepted running styles injure 85% of runners (shin splints, knee issues, etc.) This could be your chance to run injury free.
The controversial POSE technique, designed by Nicholas Romanov, has already been adopted by the official triathlete body in the USA. This masterclass could be an ideal stepping stone for you to begin to practically understand the technique.

Keen to go but it clashes with something else I've got (and also with Andy's Kettlebell event)
"If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready"
"The mind always gives out before the body. You’ll pass out before you die."
"We'll be as we are when all the fools around us fade away"
"Successful men and women are very careful in reaching decisions and very persistent and determined in action thereafter."

I would have loved to go to this, especially after last Saturdays pose clinic with Dr Romanov, but with last saturday at the clinic, this coming sunday at Chet's deadlift workshop and two full weekends on a Reps course later in the month, I reckon my cojones would be in serious danger if I suggested this to the Mrs
Squat 3x5x135kg , Bench 3x5x62.5kg, Press 3x5x47.5kg, DL 1x5x157.5kg, PC 5x3x55kg

Really good. A lot of what I thought I understood from reading the book was just plain wrong and the video recording of my running was a real eye opener too.
Dr Romanov (obviously) really knows his stuff and as they had wrapped an instructor certification around the course, every clinic attendee got one to one or two to one tuition from a 'student' instructor.
I had a lot of issues with my running that were corrected in the session and I left feeling really keen to keep practicing the pose method. Dr R does not try to play down the amount of effort that is needed to learn good pose technique.
The only thing that stopped me from going straight out and practicing on Sunday morning was the major (really major!) pain in my calves. I am going to be trying to include pose exercises every time I train and to add in more runs to my training plan.

Have spoken with the organisers regrading the interest in another workshop on an alternative date - they are on it!
Meanwhile, watch out on BBC breakfast this morning as Lee is featured on a piece about barefoot running

The 6pm news last night had a feature on barefoot running. Was quite good, nice to see barefoot running "mainstreaming"!

i read the bbc news story, but the research all seemed pretty obvious to anybody that's dabbled in barefoot running. There's no way you can heel strike for any distance on a hard surface, hence your gait changes.

True, but I doubt the majority of folk have tried barefoot running at all, so good basic info for folk.
Accurate info out into the 'mainstream' - can't ask much more than that!
