Hi

I was wondering how many of you out there can pull off a free handstand in the middle of the room and hold it for at least 10 secs??

This is what iv been trying to do and man its been hard!, theres some good instruction on the crossfit site and these guys at you tube have helped me a lot

http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=kP21jLLxhzw

http://uk.youtube.co...feature=related

I have always been amazed at people who can pull off stuff like planche, l sits and handstands, gymnasts, traceurs people like that in general so i thought it was time for me to master at least one of the fundamentals of gymnastics.

I was getting really frustrated there, it just wasnt clicking, i was too tense minute i relaxed boom i was up.........and down in a second!, can't seem to hold it so more work to do1

For shoulders as strong as hips you can't beat it!

Check out this vid by the way !

Nice one dude B)

Aye, stuff like that/people like that really interest me too.

Really liking those two vids as well mate - thanks :D There are some brilliant tips in there i have never seen before....

So to clarify - the actual challenge is a 10 second freestanding handstand.. aye?

Ten seconds is pretty long but I don't mind having a go. Can we be in any handstand position (e.g. legs wide apart)?

Same, but not sure if I can actually do any without hurting shoulder atm. I'll have to give it a go against the wall first and see.

Hi

Good to see that some of you guys are up for this, regarding legs apart i would have to say no, really what were aiming for is a totally straight body position. Let us know how you guys are getting on.

Mark from Crossfit Derby has put up a link to a handstand tutorial in the 'hints and tips' section in his forum.

Oh, all right, I'll search it out and put a link up...

Ok, I probably won't bother with this challenge then. I don't do straight body handstands very often.

Would really love to be able to do gymnastic stuff, my efforts are in vain at the moment! Been spending a bit of time over at beastskills.com - he could do some really impressive stuff!
