Marc showed me the article and I have to say well done Chet and I was really surprised at how he used 'The Box' as a representative for functional training in the UK :D

Thanks Buddy. We all appreciate it here at 'The Box'.
"The idiots are self regarding consumer slaves oblivious to the paradox of their uniform individuality. They sculpt their hair to casual perfection, they wear their waistbands below their balls. They babble into hand-held twit machines about that cool e-mail of the woman being bummed by a wolf. Their cool friend made it. He's an idiot too. Welcome to the age of stupidity, hail the rise of the idiots!"

Charlie Brooker & Chris Morris.

"Don't get hung up on the stopwatch or times, or even weight lifted, think about technique, technique, technique and listening to your body. You will not perform better every session and that is set in stone. Test your self every month keep a written journal not just a forum, a place where you can keep personal notes that you can read to motivate yourself. Don't compare yourself to others when you are working out and likewise do not think that you are already fit as fcuk!!! As someone will always be in front and behind you, ultimate confidence in your abilities yes, but arrogance no, there is a fine line.
But most of all do the things you hate above the things you like or are good at, this will make you a better athlete. Save the things you like for recreational sessions. But ultimately enjoy it, even when you hate it! And finally remember the mind will always give in before the body!"

Here endeth the lesson.

its a great article guys, not usually a magazine i buy but it seems like its on the right path in terms of educating people/fighters about the best ways to improve, much better than the s***e you see in "men's elf". plus if BJ Rule from Optimal Life is a writer for them, it gets my thumbs up! Love the pudzianowski article, will be interesting to see how he does!

Cheers mate.

Agree. From what I have read, it is a great magazine on the most part in terms of training perspectives, especially compared to everything else out there.

For those of you out there who have struggled to get hold of this magazine in the shops try asking for

Quote

Boxing News, Health & Fitness

My local newsagent's distributor was unable to get hold of 'Fighting Fit' because there was no such magazine. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing plus three way phone conversation we finally figured out the name it is listed under on their systems (and on the magazine bar code) is the one quoted above.

Guess what I am going to be reading today.
45 yo, 183 cm, 95 kg BW
Squat 3x5x135kg , Bench 3x5x62.5kg, Press 3x5x47.5kg, DL 1x5x157.5kg, PC 5x3x55kg
'Grole's Trog' is on www.funckey.co.uk, warriortraining.co.uk & www.ironstrong.org
Same log, different conversations.

Happy reading :)

Cheers for that bud. But rather interesting....

Boxing News is essentially the "parent" magazine, and a magazine in it's own right!

So asking for Boxing News might get you that magazine instead of Fighting Fit...

Yeah, it has to be specified with the Health and Fitness bit. We only figured out which magazine we should order when the person at the distributor read out all the titles by Boxing News. This was about the 3rd or 4th one she read out.
