I was thinking of getting a pair of powersox for my deadlifts. I wore footy socks last week but still got blood on em.

Anyone use these? Any good suppliers? They have some on ebay but waiting to hear if price is for a pair or per sock.

improve technique? you shouldn't literally be scraping the skin of your legs

plus what about GPP and being functional? :P

Depends on who you listen to; Rip's technique has the bar in contact with the shins all the way up so does result in serious scrapage. This is also how I was coached to lift in the US by the football coaches. Others have the bar further off the legs similar to the first pull in a clean, but I find that means I am more prone to rounding the back when the weight gets heavier due to the longer lever arm.

Don't have powersox; I wear long football socks and use athletic tape or the band-aid tape along the shin as an extra barrier. Doesn't entirely prevent bloody shins, but it's pretty effective.

surely if you are scraping shins then you are losing force due to friction. If you have bar a fraction away from shins, you will have the best of both worlds?

i think rip also has his own brand of bars that are smooth in the right place, so they will slide up your legs

My socks arrived. Damn it. I thought they would be similar to wet suit material. They are more like the Nike underwear stuff. No use whatsoever. I dont understand the GPP/Functional reference. I am not a fan of blood dripping down my leg but I catch maybe one rep per set and it is enough to pull skin off. I now have a fancy pair of £25 socks.
