It's not easy to tell from that angle what's going on with your sumo lift though. It looks good but I can't really see how your hips are driving in or what your back's doing.
Still, it's working for you. Sumo is not the easiest stance to get used to but you seem to suit it.

I know my hips when up before my shoulders, but I think that my back was fine.....Dunno, seems that sumo is easier for me...must have a strong (ish) legs....
But thanks for comment

That's not quite what I meant. With sumo, there is more of a hip drive in towards the bar as you squat the weight up. I find it comes with practice - in fact my own hip action isn't as good as it should be at the moment, I need to work on it a bit more. It's no big deal though.

just interested as the CF WOD's never do Sumo style ones.
'cept with a darned high pull!
Sumo style may allow you to lift more because the weight doesn't have to move as far and the quads are more dominant than in regular style. There is a lot of debate on the subject, especially when it comes to size of the lifter. Seems smaller lifters do better with sumo style and larger lifters do better with regular. Of course there are exceptions so I guess it comes down to which style you prefer and concentrate on.
I did find this article on the subject which has some good points. It's a limited study but the results correlate with my experiences. There were a couple of good studies on the subject back in 2000 and 2002 that I read back in the day. I will see if I can track them down on Athens.

Still, remember that the world's best deadlifter lifts conventional style.

I have the PDFs if anyone is interested in reading them. Not going to post them because they are copyrighted material so to do so would be wrong
Oh, and Manny, sorry for jacking your thread a little there. Nice lifting. On some of the lifts I notice you bounce your butt a little to start the lift which may restrict you somewhat because it changes the back angle a little (not sue if Chet mentioned that or not in the video, my laptop has no sound at the moment). Looking solid though.
