Things to do before you are 30, 40 or 50 (and maybe 60)

I have decided that 2 things I would love to be able to do are a back flip and flipping onto my feet from lying on my back, Bruce Lee style. Whats the chances for a clumsy, ex rugby playing 37 yr old that always seems to get injured whenever learning something new? Pretty slim I reckon but gonna be much more fun than the old 'run the London marathon' or 'cycle coast to coast' like lots of my friends.
What are your 2 fitness goals?

Charlie Brooker & Chris Morris.
"Don't get hung up on the stopwatch or times, or even weight lifted, think about technique, technique, technique and listening to your body. You will not perform better every session and that is set in stone. Test your self every month keep a written journal not just a forum, a place where you can keep personal notes that you can read to motivate yourself. Don't compare yourself to others when you are working out and likewise do not think that you are already fit as fcuk!!! As someone will always be in front and behind you, ultimate confidence in your abilities yes, but arrogance no, there is a fine line.
But most of all do the things you hate above the things you like or are good at, this will make you a better athlete. Save the things you like for recreational sessions. But ultimately enjoy it, even when you hate it! And finally remember the mind will always give in before the body!"
Here endeth the lesson.

U de man!
That is ace. I didnt know you could learn to flip and kip online.
I just need to get down to the gym club to use the mats first. My son has just joined so I may sneak off and start making a fool of myself.
have you done any of the inverted burpee workouts yet?
kinda similar
you shouldn't really need any special kind of padding, other than maybe a couple of foam mats

I concur with that. For back flips you will get on much better if you have spotters - ideally 2, but 1 would do.

Had my first back flip lesson today. Killed me. Knackered. I ache from the top of my head downwards. He reckons I am not a lost cause though. I managed some by the end of first session in the harness on a mat. Landed on my head a couple of times.

Went into foam pit. It doesnt hurt when you land on your head, face, back, shoulder, elbow, as I did on many occasions.
I am collapsing my arms when I land partly due to lack of shoulder girdle and thoracic flexibility.
I am practising hand stands and stretching now before lesson 3 next week.
Why didnt i choose something sensible?

We did other stuff today. Cartwheels and round offs then handstand springs. I'm knackered. My hamstring is killing me and my traps are stiff as boards. Tough stuff this pretending to be a 9 yr old girl in a playground, especially when your 14 stone and 38 tomorrow.
