Alex says hello

Been lurking for a while, but finally got round to posting something! I'm based in Surrey and I've bumped into a couple of board members doing oly lifting there (Andy & Chet I've got to have a garage workout with you guys sometime soon!). I've just finished my degree, and will be working in a group of hospital gyms by the end of the month (currently doing my level 3). I'm also part of a team starting up a national university sport & fitness magazine and website. Early days, but it's all rather exciting at any rate.
I've been trying to get my workouts more functional for a while now, and am currently getting really into these olympic lifts. Anyway, just wanted to say a big hello, and of course if anyone's interest is piqued by the uni sport magazine (what better way to give bright young things a proper understanding of fitness?) I'd love to hear from you- we've literally just started grabbing writers.
Anyway, look forward to meeting more of you!

BTW, You meant my garage; Andy's is a whole lot bigger affair in Reading
Will send you a PM and we can sort out some times. I know Tim (Chronyx above there) is always up for a session so we can work out a group thing.

Uni mag sounds like a good idea, I used to be el presidente of a uni sports club (basketball) so if I can help in any way give me a shout.
"If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready"
"The mind always gives out before the body. You’ll pass out before you die."
"We'll be as we are when all the fools around us fade away"
"Successful men and women are very careful in reaching decisions and very persistent and determined in action thereafter."

Sorry Stephen! Obviusly ddin't engage my brain before posting! Yeah, it would be good to dive over. I'm trying to make it to the CoE three times a week, so anything around that would be grand.
Chet & FK Pimp I'll drop you guys a PM about the magazine. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated.

We'll sort out some times at WCofE tomorrow.
Anything I can contribute re: the mag let me know also. I am the Head Coach of the University American Football club so I can tap in to the players/committee to chip in too.

I`m sure you gonna love it here.
Also, put some more info about hospital gym.
Guys, Chet, Franz, any group training, pls, let me know. Always up for some fun.
TBH, there's not that much to say. Very little resistance equipment (bands, that's it), and lots of people with injuries and problems surplus to their diagnosis. I'd love to get them doing olympic lifts and muscle-ups, but sadly i don't think it will happen
Quick moment of bragging: I managed my first bodyweight snatch on Monday @ 72kg. Ok, moment over. Haven't seen any of you guys down WCofE recently, but then I ddin't make Reading so I can't really talk!

Wouldn't be much of an Olympic Weighlifting gym if you couldn't squat there
Yes you can deadlift there too if you like.
Though dont be afraid of getting stuck into the Oly Lifts where you are down there. Peeps help each other, it doesnt matter what level you are in terms of the lifts. There is some great experience and expertise down there in terms of coaches.

There's all sorts to get up to at WCofE, but you're really paying for the olympic bumber plates and coaching. They're big on all lifts really: their lift of the quarter is a military press (from floor), for example. Highly recommend it if you've never had any coaching for lifts.
And Cheers Chet! Very happy that I managed it before Christmas!
