Dan John is coming to Ireland this Christmas!

Dates:
26 December
27 December
28 December (maybe)
Location:
Informed Performance, Dublin
Details such as agenda, where to stay etc will be emerging over the next few weeks. I will keep this thread updated as I hear things. Here's what Dan Fouts the organiser had to say about the event:
"...Damned straight there will be practicals. I can see at least one session per day and likely more. This will be done in the gym, so I can envision Dan talking for 30' and everyone training for the rest of the day WHILE he talks and demonstrates and all that.
I anticipate some life and universe and global perspective stuff of course ... the whole work / play / rest / prey (or is it pray?) angle.
There will be kettlebells, carries, throws, snatches, deadlifts ... that whole pick things up and move them around idea Dan has stuck in his head.
And we aim to serve, so throw us any ideas, and we'll try to accomodate.
Regarding the fee, Dan's cheap. Wait, that sounds bad. Dan's not free ... how's that? Our intention is to maximize exposure for you to Dan, to get Dan in front of as many people as possible, have fun, work hard, learn as much as possible, and simply cover costs. The more interest we get up front, the lower we can price the weekend.
As well we will do our best to get travel and lodging details spread around. There is a decent hotel just up the road that has been advertising €59 per night ... and that's during the summer. Perhaps we can knock that down for a group rate during the offseason. As well we can do our best to match people up as roomies, cab share, etc.
We're going to have a blast!
Fouts"
If you want to contact Dan Fouts directly use dan@informedperformance.com.
It would be good for FK.UK folks heading over to coordinate plans so if you are seriously intending to go, please post here. Needless to say, I will be there if I have to swim the Irish Sea and sleep in the carcass of a dead sheep to do it.
AND if you cannot make it, good news! I'll be stocking some of Dan John's DVDs in my shop very soon, so you will at least be able to have the Dan John experience in your own living room if you can't see the man himself.

It will be two full days, and yes each will be different. I am meeting with Dan in about 2 weeks to establish an agenda. As well he has expressed interest in doing some work with any throwers, highland gamers, etc. on Monday the 28th if time permits.
I will attempt to stay abreast of this thread, but feel free to email me with any questions, comments, or requests.
Regards,
Dan

I hate to bust your chops, but Danny John is Irish! He's coming 90% of the way, and so you just have to come the last 10%.

Would love to Gubes...but paid out so much on Certs lately!! Dont get me wrong the Oly Cert was well worth the money...but the CF level 2 was pants and not worth the money I paid!! Typical eh..this is the one I would probably gain the most from as I am going to throw at all the games next season!!
I suppose it depends on the fee.......

And, just to be clear, this was a bit of a joke. (I tend to do that.) Since many of us have man-crushes on Dan John, just think of a little movie scene featuring Will Smith and Kevin James.

Again, we do want to set the fee structure to accomplish the following:
(I) maximize/optimize attendance because:
(ii) the more people that Dan can teach, the better for Dan
(iii) the more people informed performance can get into the gym, the better for informed performance
(II) ensure that expenses are covered for Dan John his and wonderful family (they are the coolest, btw)
That being said, the fee structure will be set based on early interest and my ability to forecast attendance. I need a magic 8-ball.
Here's an example of what can happen. We did a 2 day seminar in Salt Lake City with Dan 2 years ago. Since it was in Salt Lake City at JDCHS, we had no costs to cover. We decided to make it free and announced that any fee money volunteered would be collected by Dan and given to a charity of his choice (the money went to a local underpriveleged high school). We didn't promote it much at all other than putting a flyer up on t-nation. So a free 2 day seminar with Dan John garnered all of 5 people with 1 of those being his brother! Now, that doesn't say much for our (my) promotion abilities, but it doesn't say much for people either. And that's the origin of my caution here.
Again, this is for Dan and the community. I am open for suggestions and recommendations on pricing. Keep in mind that I have a business to operte and the aforementioned costs to cover, but with enough feedback I can generate a fee sensitive potential attendance curve to determine the sweet spot. Yes, my background is in nerdery and engineering specifically.
Lastly, any money spent on learning with Dan John trumps any certification. There are academic degrees, and then there are educations!
Regards,
Dan
