I have been watching guys on CF using paralettes for HSPU and other bodyweight stuff but these things cost a bomb. Has anyone tried using the standard push up bars. They are much cheaper.
(sorry, should this be in equipment category?)

Paralettes needed?

You could try making some from plastic piping. You should be able to find some instructions with a few google searches (try "DIY paralettes")
There are pics of my paralettes in this thread
I used pipes and stuff I bought in Holland as a lot of the stuff sold in places like B&Q seems a little too flexible.

Nice work on those Peter, not seen those before.
Absolution, I wouldn't shell out on new ones, far too pricy. I have some pushup stands I bought from Argos years ago for under a tenner, and they work just fine for L-sits, HSPUs etc.
Failing that, there are several designs here that might be useful.

my mate made a pair from the handles from a disabled toilet and some wood - will try and get a photo
You are a MAN... take that Zone diet and throw it back at Sears and tell him "f*** you, I'm eating food without counting it". Embrace the 200+ pound range, bro, hug it...

I use push-up handles and they are just as good (and are less than 4 quid in Sainsbury's!). I still have to make a set of parallettes using the material Peter brought back for me at Christmas
For L-Sits I use my builder's trestles that double as my squat spotters.

Likewise on everything above! I also use the push-ups handles for L-Sits.
