After the scramble to get all the forms together (which I'm sure most of you are aware of!), it all came together at the very last minute and I sent of the team application on Friday 30th.
Sent it off by Special Delivery - so it was guaranteed to get there on Sat 31st, before the EOM deadline! £6-something - what a rip off! But it least it meant you lot would not all have to fork out extra for the app not getting there by the 31st
I will keep my eyes peeled on the site as to when Team FuncKey is listed there.
In the meantime if any team member receives anything TG through the post, chuck up a wee post
Cheers

Naw...nice one, but I think its only fair that folk wear what they want for it as their "base" layers.
Having said that...
In terms of Team clothing to wear whilst training/on top of stuff on race day...watch this space

As for the rest, I recommend lycra running stuff. Or shorts, if you haven't got lycra. Shorts that have a tie waist to keep them up! Don't wear tracky trousers, they'll just weigh you down. Your legs'll get scraped to bits but that's par for the course. One year I went on holiday the week after, so got some very funny looks when I was walking round in a swimsuit with scabs and bruises all down my shins.
Double layer socks are good for preventing blisters, and trail shoes with good grips make for less sliding around in the mud and falling on your backside, which you may or may not consider to be a good thing.

I think you may have misread bud?
It says:
'If your race number is bigger than 30000, it is a temporary number...'
But yours are 3000-something.
Is that what you were referring to?

Definitely going to run TG 09 - the winter ones are more fun anyway
Out of interest, just trying to learn the POSE method. Any of you used it for a cross country event like TG and if so, what shoes would be good? I have Nike Free's and a pair of Vibrum KSO's, but I am a little concerned they wont hold up to the course too well.

How many TGs have you done then?
You running Winter 09??
I'm also starting up with trying to learn POSE.
Think you would be right with your concerns about the Vibrams, etc at TG TBH...
EDIT: Been doing a little research on this, as I'm after a pair of POSE-suitable shoes ATM.
It does seem that there are a few POSE recommended shoes that are a bit more suitable for trail running, etc
Will post up some stuff later

2001 was damned cold, the water was freezing over again even as we were in the ponds. Made the underwater tunnel interesting I can tell you! Ice-cream headaches all round LOL. Hasn't been that cold since, thankfully. I still get the shakes sometimes in the winter if I see a pond frozen over!
I will be running the Jan/Feb event if I can get my arse in gear and send in the application forms. A friend of mine is trying to lose weight and has running as his goal (he last ran in 2001 with me) so that gives me more reason to get going for it. I will probably wait until after NW to send them in so they don't get lost in the last minute mad rush Mr. Mouse and his team have at the time.
Did you run it before?

Knee reconstruction sounds tricky though - as do the 2001 conditions!
Aye, my first was Winter 08.

FYI - I'm scooting up and down the country over the next couple of weeks
Will shoot you all an email with a few admin points over the next couple of days.
In the meantime:
* Please could you all email me at <chet@funckey.co.uk> with a contact phone number for yourself (ideally mobile), and also a name and number for your emergency contact on the day. Please email me this as opposed to PM or on this thread! Obviously if you have done this already, I have your details, no need to send again.
* If any of you have any questions, etc as we approach the event - it's probably best to reach me by phone/text over the next couple of weeks - my number is on a previous team email I sent you all. Failing that, I would be grateful if you could email me on the address above as opposed to PM/replies to this - easier for me to pick up. I will check into the forum etc as much as poss though
Nice one.
Cheers guys,
C.
