Really like your 5x5 squats/dead/oly each week plan.

I will most likely steal it, hehe. For 5x5 squats/deads/presses for now, adding in oly lifts when I am more practised in them.

I need to add presses back in but the ceiling in teh gym just now is too low, i need to take the bar outside or into the hallway and do cleans before pressing it!

go into any gym and every guy will have a special place in their heart for bench press...it is a macho exercise that for most men in most gyms is the be all and end all of their ego.

Unfortunatly in day to day life, unless you are a mechanic and a car has happened to fall on your chest or you have become stuck between a wardrobe and the wall in a freak home furnishing accident, a huge bench press doesn't have that much cross over to everyday fitness. However, being able to pick up something heavy ( deadlift ) , get it to shoulder height ( clean ) and putting it up high ( press or jerk ) or the ability to sit down and stand up ( squat ) is an ability that I would rather work on so in life I am able to do these things with ease

Now it may just be that I would rather be fit for life rather that fit for the gym or beach..... :D

Ive never trained for vanity. I started training because I was very fat. Then I found CrossFit . I did the body building way of training and all I got for it was injuries and a sense of boredom with training, f*** I worked in a normal gym for 4 years and all I saw was guys worried about how big their bench press was. Then I realised that I wanted to be fit enough to chase after my kids, body-building routines wasn't going to provide that. Even if I never found CrossFit, I would probably be doing circuits, heavy days, kettlebells, and not doing biceps and chest one day, triceps and shoulders the next and legs and triceps the next. But this nay be just be me being an old married man with 2 kids talking...
