Out of curiosity, how many people on here can actually do a 'muscle up'? I have never tried one but gonna get down to local gymnastic club and give one a go when got my chins/kips upto standard.

"You're joking, right?"
I'm guessing....maybe around ten of the regulars? (I'm not one of the ten!). If we are including bar muscle-ups, which I think we should.

I wish there was an Affiliate near me. I emailed Crossfit Manchester twice but got no reply. I think Newcastle nearest after that, 2 hours away.
whereabouts are you based?
there's 2 places in manc now, plus there is probably a few non-cf-affliated functional fitness type places around

The muscle up is a party trick move buddy don't get too hung up about it!!!! Its all about the grip, 99% of you have the strength to do it!!!!! As Chet discovered after long and frustrating attempts, we met up, sorted his grip and BOOM Mu!!!! And then there was no stopping him...
And even many of the CF coaches have not done one!!!! Which I find odd as it is a signature move!!!!!
Charlie Brooker & Chris Morris.
"Don't get hung up on the stopwatch or times, or even weight lifted, think about technique, technique, technique and listening to your body. You will not perform better every session and that is set in stone. Test your self every month keep a written journal not just a forum, a place where you can keep personal notes that you can read to motivate yourself. Don't compare yourself to others when you are working out and likewise do not think that you are already fit as fcuk!!! As someone will always be in front and behind you, ultimate confidence in your abilities yes, but arrogance no, there is a fine line.
But most of all do the things you hate above the things you like or are good at, this will make you a better athlete. Save the things you like for recreational sessions. But ultimately enjoy it, even when you hate it! And finally remember the mind will always give in before the body!"
Here endeth the lesson.

I managed to do a scaled fran today for the first time. i used a band for my pull ups and although struggled through, my bicep held up.
Once I can master the pull ups again I may get some kip/muscle up coaching. I am due to go to Crossfit London in 3 weeks. I have also been in contact with Simon at Crossfit Central Manchester. I will pop across there too shortly as there are no such boxes in Yorkshire as far as I can see.

Nice one; Love the huh-yuuuge grin on your face when you come down.
I still can't ring MU for toffee. Kills my elbows. bar MU's are easy and I can get 1-3 ring MU's if I try but then my arm is useless for a day or two!
