Hey all,

I'm Blake, one of the many New Zealanders living in London, I'm 24 and studied Sport Science at University, of which most of the knowledge has faded. I used to be really fit, but have had to take time of to rehab a neck injury and unfortunately I haven't been able to train much during that. I'm trying to find the most effective strength and conditioning program to balance with Brazilian Ju Jitsu which is how I heard about this.

I've had a look around the forums and there doesn't seem to be as much ego as some of the others I've checked out, so hopefully you wont mind holding my hand through my first month or so - of what I've seen of cross-fit I don't know whether I'm more Inspired or scared... I'm sure I'll make my mind up after my first work out :-P

Welcome to FK Blake. No need to be scared of the CrossFit WOD's. Your best bet is to look at th escaled workouts offered by BrandX which are here. They show the simplicity of scaling CF to your levels until you can manage the main site.

I'm in Putney Heath, hopefully these big parks and things will come in useful for CF

You'll be inspired, I'm sure! Good luck, we all support each other on the training logs.

Hey there, welcome to FK.UK!

You picked the right S&C program for BJJ. I've been rolling for a couple of years before I got into CrossFit seriously. the difference it made was unreal. It's not so much an increase in your technical ability but rather it gives you an ability to use your technique if you get me? You don't get tired as quickly (or at all at times!) so you're able to concentrate on your technique a lot more.

Start up a training log. Best thing I did, keeps me in check with what I'm doing and what I think I'm doing!
You could leg press... but that's gay.
