Ah yes. I'm a master of making things worse! I'll tread carefully.

Ibuprofen. Physio always tells me to eat this stuff. I always forget. Thanks for the reminder.

LOL, I always get advice when what I really want is sympathy.

Guys, this is a girl thing - take note! When women are upset/annoyed, they don't want your helpful suggestions, they want sympathy ;)

Tuesday 28th July

Playing catch-up - did 2 WODs today.
(in hindsight, not terribly bright  )

Death by C&J
60kg (135lb).
Got to 5 mins, plus 1 rep.
Woof! Sneaky one this. Got me proper knackered very quickly.

Cindy
Pull-ups x5; Push-ups x10; Squats x15: AMRAP in 20mins
- Scaled this to 12mins, as I'd already suffered death by C&J
- Pull-ups scaled to band-assisted pull-ups (cos I'm rubbish at pull-ups. Need band to get full ROM)

Got 5 full rounds + 5 pull-ups + 10 push-ups + 0 squats

Did the Burgener warm-up with 20kg for a few rounds too. Snatches are coming back! I love it when a plan come together...
Finished off with some beginner pull-ups on the Smith machine. Hogged it for ages...

Today's rating - quite moosey

Wednesday 29th July

Burgerner warm-up again - did a good few of everything, interspersed with shoulder dislocates (as per Chet's advice :) ).
Nicely warmed-up.

CF WOD
Can't run at the moment till my achilles tendon is back on track, so the 10k was of the menu.
Thought Christine might be fun...
- Row 500m; 10x bodyweight (i.e. 100kg) deadlifts; 21 box jumps. 3 rounds for time.
Finished in 13:57
That's over a minute better than last time (about 6 weeks ago) :D.

This all felt very good today. Well chuffed.

Today's rating - back to full moose-dom. Hooray.

Friday 31st July

Thought I'd pick up the CF Thruster challenge...
I was planning to do the 52.5kg x 21 reps, but I was out of air after 12!
Had plenty strength to do 60kg x 9 reps, just not enough puff for the reps.
Phew!

CF WoD
"Nicole"
- AMPAP in 20 mins
- Run 400m; max rep pull-ups
Still can't run on my sore achilles, so subbed the run for 500m rows.
Scaled the pull-ups for band-assisted pull-ups (using my lovely green band, my precious...)

Got through 5 rounds. The pull-up maxes were 6, 5, 5, 4, 4. Not a huge total, but I was happy. :)

:o
Ouch! Fell down my stairs yesterday morning (2nd time in a week!).
Think I was hobbling a bit coz of sore achilles and just slipped (might not have been quite awake either  ).
Nothing broken, but lots of very painful soft tissue injuries, especially both feet and shoulders (I twisted to avoid landing my back on the steps).
Can't lift my arms up past chest height right now.

So, no Moose log for a while. Might just be a few days (fingers crossed), but could be a few weeks until I can train. :(
Leave a light on...

Getting old...thinking about having a stair lift put in :D
(really, I think it's because my achilles was so trashed it wouldn't allow me to flatten my foot first thing in the morning, making me fall down the stairs...it feels better now too)

I'm getting twitchy now.
A week off was very restful  but I'm desperate to get stuck back in (and I feel mildly guilty about the massive pizza I noshed down yesterday  )
I did try my first ever yoga session at the weekend though (thought it might help). Very enjoyable - I might keep it up - but it's just not the same as a good beasting!

Might try and make it through a karate sess tonight :ninja: . Will report back later if this was indeed a good idea...

Ah, hindsight is a wonderful thing aint it? ;)
If I had a pound for the number of times I thought - "eh, I'll see how I get on at training...." only to end up in a worse state I wouldn't have to work right now!

Hope you recover soon.

Thanks Franz29,

I plan to find a good, sturdy wall and steadily bang my head against it for a while.
I never learn.

Actually, the pain is subsiding a little again. Probably just as well today's a rest day.
Wonder what tomorrow's WOD will be...

Friday September 4th

A month off is too long!
My shoulder is still horribly painful, but only in certain directions (impingement syndrome, I'm told).
I couldn't stand it any longer. I had to do something.
But, I've learned from past layoffs to ease myself back in - and as this layoff was down to a painful injury - I took it easy...

3000m row
Nice and easy. Felt very good. 12:34

Squat
Worked up to 3x3 @ 130kg.
Felt heavy, but after a month off, no surprise there.

Deadlift
Worked up to 2x3 @ 150kg.
Felt not too bad actually.

Now here's the funny part.
Out for a month with shoulder problems, I thought I'd try to work military press as shoulder OK through this plane of movement.
Wanted to run shoulder through this full ROM without weight to see if I can train it.
Warm-up with the the 20kg bar entirely pain free. Gently pushed it...
Worked up to a set of 2 with 60kg with no problem.
Previous best was 62.5kg!
What gives?

Happy to be training, and a tad confused...

Good to see you back Moose.

I did a max bench the other week after not benching for 4 months. Equalled my PB. Sometimes these things happen...
