"Don't get hung up on the stopwatch or times, or even weight lifted, think about technique, technique, technique and listening to your body. You will not perform better every session and that is set in stone. Test your self every month keep a written journal not just a forum, a place where you can keep personal notes that you can read to motivate yourself. Don't compare yourself to others when you are working out and likewise do not think that you are already fit as fcuk!!! As someone will always be in front and behind you, ultimate confidence in your abilities yes, but arrogance no, there is a fine line.
But most of all do the things you hate above the things you like or are good at, this will make you a better athlete. Save the things you like for recreational sessions. But ultimately enjoy it, even when you hate it! And finally remember the mind will always give in before the body!"
Here endeth the lesson.

So there are two ways of doing it.......... Do what they do reduced ROM and sh#te technique and smash it, reduced ROM should be an advantage for us....or, use great technique with full ROM and do a slower time but you will still qualify, and then at the finals argue the toss and cause a scene, using the well I am doing more work argument so I must be fitter than your winner who did incomplete movements.
Ben I will drop you a line after the weekend.

Problem is that the weights are not heavy enough to separate the weak from the strong. There's no real strength test in there, it's just an endurance fest.
Also since none of the exercises are themselves that tough (no thrusters, no gold standard burpees etc), there will probably be a lot of people around the country who can actually post quite fast times because they have decent cardio endurance.
Looking at the exercises, the real difference will be made in the row, bike and run - especially the latter two disciplines (assuming that people will suffer in the row from lack of technique rather than lack of fitness).

Row 500m:
90 seconds
DB Curl to Press:
20 seconds
"Burpees"
15 seconds
3km Bike:
150 seconds? (not sure what the machine is like)
DB Chest Press:
20 seconds
Box Jumps:
20 seconds
Squats:
20 seconds
1km Run
180 seconds
Total: 8:35
This is a very rough guess, could probably go faster or slower depending on fatigue, and moving between exercises.

Greg, no chance............ Gubes got it spot on about the Run, Row, Bike, and even with great technique on them all the cumulative effect is huge irrelevant of the exercises and the technique, the M.E and the aerobic demands are still high no matter how poorly the movements are performed.... You can game it with good tech on the bike and row to gain ground....... but the demand is still high. Greg if you can sub 9 it I will bow @ your feet.
Ross sounds like you should enter then....

If we all have a bash we could have a little friendly rivalry / encouragement on here, maybe...? I'm sure we'd all keep good form, so it'd stop us arguing with the MH bods! Anyone else be up for that?

Using our standards, good idea.
OK I'm now commited, my qual date is Friday 28th Aug @ Fitness first, don't know whether to game it and just qualify or go and beat last years winning time (which I have already done) when I go to the qual heat? that would throw the cat amongst the pigeons
