Save up for a weighted vest if you can and kill more than one bird with the same stone. In my opinion...for what it's worth

don't think you get the same function at all from a weight vest TBH. I have both and use the vest for more metcon stuff and the belt for the heavier max effort stuff.

Need to make sure you get a decent strength belt though - I have a powerhouse one and the caribiner clip has snapped due to to jumping off the bar (3 inch drop) with c. £40k on it. Could have been a lot worse but just broke the box i was standing on.

the beast skills guy recommends one that can take a shed load of weight

i've got a York dipping belt, which has been ok up to around 40kg, though it does dig into my quite painfully when it gets heavy, and the chain doesn't look that strong.

and get yourself a climbing krab if you don't trust them, they should be rated to 22kN

i hope you're not stealing them from indoor or outdoor climbing walls!


I buy most of my climbing gear from http://www.needlesports.co.uk they probbaly do a cheap steel karabiner for a few quid delivered too.
