Hi everyone,

I'm writing this as we believe that due to some recent events reported on tv people are concerned about travelling to Northern Ireland.

I'd like to start by saying that the current political climate here is fantastic, and has been for the past 10 years or so. Northern Ireland has flourished and still flourishes since the peace agreement was signed.

A very small minority of people here with seriously outdated views decided to shoot a policeman. A second group of equally stupid people also thought it a great idea to shoot into an Army barracks, they killed 2 soldiers. What ensued, and what I'm not sure if it has been shown around the world, is that the whole of Northern Ireland stood side by side and publicly renounced these needless murders. So what these groups actually did was pull normal society in Northern Ireland even closer together. Go figure.

As with everywhere there are always muppets who ruin things for others. 99% of the people here are great craic. These eejets should never have made the news. The majority of people here have never been directly involved in anything scary. It really all depends on the company you keep.

There are killing and shootings going on all over the world and recent events here have been the maddest thing that has happened here for years. Sorry that that is what has been publicised around the world, and not any of the good stuff. It is safe to travel here, live here and visit here.
