Been talking about this with a few folk recently...

How does your 1RM (full squat) snatch compare with your 3RM/5RM OHS?

And how does your 1RM (full squat) clean compare with your 3RM/5RM front squat?

Seems to be that the general feeling is these are (or should be?) roughly the same...i.e. that your snatch is somewhere around your 3 to 5RM OHS, and your clean is around your 3 to 5RM front squat.

Just interested really - how does it play out for y'all?

For me:

Current PB clean is 60kg, can FS this for 6.
Having said that, squatting up at that weight is not the issue for me on cleans at the moment.

Currnet PB snatch is 41kg - dont usually OHS in 5s, but given what I know from other rep ranges its about my 5RM.

Hmm, not sure tbh. I can squat clean 82.5 but my 5 rm at front squat is ~ 110.
Snatch, OHS 5's probably around the same as my max snatch (52.5).

I still think it's technique on the O-lifts letting me down - that and the fear of getting under the bar at higher weight, I just don't trust my knees/shoulders!

Full squat clean is 90kg and i have front squated 100kgx3, so would guess my clean is around my FS 5RM

I've only ever played with full snatchs a few times and have an ugly 1RM of 60kg, which is around my OHS 3RM but again i do not train OHS very often.

My PB clean is 72.5kg. 5RM for front squat is 65kg. Never tried a 3RM front sq. May have to sort that this weekend.

I think the reason why I got that clean at 72.5kg was purely because I ate 8 eggs, 6 rashers of bacon and 3 bowls of bran flakes for breakfast that day. B)

1RM power clean is 70kg
1RM squat clean is 65kg
3RM Front squat is 82.5kg
1RM back squat 95kg (last I checked a couple of months ago)

OHS is just a pvc pipe at the moment, as I lack flexibility :S
Played with power snatches, but not really with anything heavy

Hmmm,

1rm snatch: 52.5kg (ages ago though)
3rm OHS: 60kg (more recently)

1rm clean: 75kg (I think)
5rm front squat: 70 (just below parallel), 3rm atg fs: 70 also

I have some weak-ass quads though.

Best snatch is 80kg, 3RM on the overhead squat is 95ish kg (if I remember correctly). Both of these happened last summer.

More recently, 110kg squat clean, and did 120kg for survivable sets of 3 on the front squat, so I'd guess my 3RM might be about 125kg at the mo.

I think the ratio of each of these is a pretty good numerical indicator of your technical proficiency. 1.0 would probably qualify you as "good".

Some of the best lifters can actually clean a little bit more than their 1RM front squat with clever use of bar whip, calf bounce and the like. Bastards.

Reading up on Pavel's stuff but I'm unsure as to whether I can trust a man who can't afford a shirt.

Cheers for the input (so far) fellas, makes for interesting reading.

Nice one on the ratios Will - that's one of the of things I was mulling over :)

Just to add my own:

1rm snatch is 87.5, 3rm OHS is 85. Struggle with flexibity at the bottom.

1rm Clean 115kg, 3rm FS 120 although I've done this for 3x3 so would be a little more.
