I was thinking of contacting the guys at SAQinternational with regards to doing one of their one day M-Awards classes with the mind to move on to their diploma later on. The course is accredited by several UK bodies so it isn't just another piece of paper.

Looking around their site, I noticed they do a "host your event" service where they will come to your location. This then got me thinking about seeing if I could arrange an event at the University of Surrey Sports Ground in Guildford where I coach American football. The minimum number of participants is 12, maximum looks to be about 25. Not sure on the cost right now, it depends what they charge plus the hire of the venue (which shouldn't be too much if I can convince them it's a Uni team activity ;) ).

So, my question is this: Would any of you be interested in coming to Guildford and taking this course if I could arrange it cheaper per person than attending independently? If the interest is there I will look into it for the summer months, if not I will carry on and attend one of their regularly scheduled courses.

I've done the p award and it was very beneficial. Decided the P was better for me as it dealt with people of all ages rather than just children. It did outline guidelines etc for working with children.

Cool, I will look at the P-Award too then (plus it has REPS points which is good).

Been speaking to SAQ this week again; basically, the cost is the same per person for them to come to you as it is for you to go to them, you just get the benefit hosting the event. I am in talks with the University to figure out how many of the other sport coaches would be interested and how much they would let us have the venue for. Once they get off their asses and give me numbers I can get back to them. If it works out to be substantially more expensive per person to host the event, I will look at going on an individual basis.

Either way (hosted or individual participation), I plan on completing the P-Course by the end of Q3 this year.

Will keep you all updated on the progress as and when it happens.
