OK...

So I'm getting stuff together for Tough Guy.

Thought I'd jot things down in this thread...will make some notes after the event as to how everything performed.

Just ordered:

These shoes

and

These socks

Will be wearing some lycra running bottoms I already have (nice ;))

...and prob a hat

Nicky suggested gloves, but I think I will go without TBH. Want to do the obstacles bare-handed, and dont really want to be carrying them on my person.

As for tops, I'm undecided but probably an old t-shirt as opposed to a base layer/'performance' top or something.

Any thoughts on this?

I hope you finish is the top 10. It will be the only way you can get away with runners that colour tongue.gif

Btw, did you ever get the five fingers?

I'd seriously think about the gloves. When I did that 2-day challenge thing in May I used fingerless gloves, and even though they got soaked my hands were still warmer with them on than off.

I've bought Sealskinz ultra-grip gloves, which are waterproof. I'm planning to give them a test run in the river to see how they go. I hope they're ok.

I did summer TG without gloves but I wouldn't want to go without in the winter.

Yep, the ones down the bottom of that list with the picture of the gloved hand in water. T hough I did consider the technical mountain bike glove, which I thought might be better on the grip (which is the only bit of mine I'm a bit concerned about), but they'd let water in through the wrist hole.

Hmm.

Considering getting these for TG.

Cant decide if I feel the same way about wearing gloves for TG as I do about wearing gloves in the gym, or whether I'm being stupid and it makes sense to get a pair...

You're being stupid and it makes sense to get a pair. Everyone will be wearing gloves. Take it from me. You won't be alone.

You wouldn't run bare foot, mate. Most cross country runners wear gloves to get through tough areas.

Ahh but I would run in Fivefingers, almost barefoot ;) ;)

Not at TG though, lol.

True mate, good point.

Before anyone says anything...yes I am aware that it will all get trashed within about 3 mins. But I haven't got any suitable old stuff at the moment. Plus its another excuse to buy "stuff"

And most importantly of all - most of my TG stuff is in bright colours so I look like as ridiculous as possible ;) Having said that, it will all be brown within a few minutes anyway, lol.

I considered buying a fluorescent yellow jacket so that you could see me. But the only ones I could find had JJB Sports on the back - not wearing that, even to TG! I might pop into JJB and see if I can find a cheapo one actually, as mine are too nice to ruin.

You can wash your stuff after. I just keep my TG stuff to wear to TG, as it's now all greyed out.

All arrived today :D Will all get properly tested at the event of course, but as way of a mini review just now...

The hat fits nice and snug, feels very warm.

The gloves fit like...a glove  . Tested them for grip on my pullup bar - feel like glue.

The boxers are great, really comfy, no seams.

And the top is very tight (but is the right size). And very orange  Other than that your standard base layer :)
