Squatting is a very natural movement for humans. However our sedentary lifestyles and lack of practise of this movement as we get older means that the movement can become more difficult.
Many people therefore find they have to re-learn how to squat and it can seem daunting. People are afraid to put weights on their back because they are not confident in their ability to execute the movement properly.
